    Thank you for the video. I have an old Genesis model circa 2000 (red in color) that has always been hot on one side and just warm on the other. I always have to cook on the side that is hot. The burners all work, so I am confused as to why it is this way. It appears that it must be on bypass mode, but I have always turned it on in the correct sequence. How long should I wait when I turn the gas on before turning the one burner on that you light first (I was not clear on that part of your video) in order to reset the bypass mode?. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

    something I tried yesterday, still had some clogging inside the tube...was to use a propane torch to go around the tube where the holes are and get it just hot enough where it was starting to get a little glowing red. Seemed to really burn everything both inside and out of the tube that might have been caking it up in there.

    Hi I'm a fan ❤ Wanted to ask.. weber recommends not using a baking tray for grilling meats as the condensate ( of the rendered fluids) drips down the sides of the lid. They specify that one must use a perforated aluminum foil for indirect cooking. Did this happen with you ( condensate drippingdown the sides of the lid)?

    I was interested in calculating electric costs vs gas usage. If you are using a 1500 watt electric griddle for 40 hours that is 60 kwh and depending on your utility rate that's gonna be $5-9 assuming 7 - 14 cent kwh for same usage. I wanna say from your video I think you have the right size grill for your application and uses. Larger grills can just be expensive energy hogs, but you use yours a lot and I can tell it is loved.

    @chicago griller is this how you clean the grates after each use?

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller 18 днів тому

      This is a bit much to do after each use. To clean your grates simply just turn the heat in high and let everything on the grill carbonize for about 10-15 min. It should easily scrape off at that point. This quick clean is something I do monthly just to get some of the finer residue cleaned off regularly and to keep the grease tray emptied.

    I don’t think my original Q2000 grate ( single) has porcelain on it. I think I bought mine back around 2008. It’s an extremely heavy single piece that looks like new when brushed well. In the beginning I took my grill apart and cleaned everything once a year but now I have not removed the grate except to change my burner tube or drill out the clogged holes. I only brush the grate on top. It is so well seasoned now I don’t want to mess it up. I’m 60 years old and have a few spare parts that I’m guaranteed my grill will outlive me.

    Have had my 2000 for 15 years and will continue to use it for the rest of my life. I’ve replaced the burner tube twice and have a spare on hand. I’ve changed the push starter and the regulator once. Mine has the one heavy cast iron grate. I would prefer a split grate but those I see at Home Depot seem too light and thin. I’m waiting for my thermometer to come in the mail to add on my grill. I never knew there was an electric start option and depending on the cost I might add one.
